Membership & Support
Legacy Land Trust receives no public funding for operations. Our sole means of funding comes from individual memberships, corporate sponsorships, and foundation grants and contributions.
All contributions go toward achieving program goals of protecting private lands, including:
• protecting the beauty of our open landscapes provided by farmers and ranchers
• offering farmers and ranchers alternatives to development
• protecting our rich natural and cultural heritages
• helping maintain the ecological and economic diversity of our communities.
One-year memberships start at $35 which can literally protect an acre of land forever.
As a private, non-profit organization, and by using conservation easements instead of purchasing land outright, Legacy Land Trust can permanently protect 100 acres for about $3,500 or about $35 an acre. The land stays in private ownership, remains on the tax rolls, and is actively managed by the landowner.
